2-Year Curriculum

Classroom Environment

Each class includes a time of worship, testimony, teaching sessions, activations and small group time.

When do we meet?

Faithful Teaching

Before approval, our curriculum undergoes a rigorous academic curriculum review with a team of respected Catholic theologians, including  Dr. Mary Healy, Dr. Alan Schreck, Dr. Daniel Keating, Rev. Peter F. Ryan, S.J., and Dr. Robert Fastiggi.

Not only did they work to guarantee that the curriculum is free from moral and doctrinal error and rooted deeply in Scripture, official Church teaching and the testimony of the early Church fathers, but they helped to provide greater precision and accuracy in the curriculum to diminish possible confusion and ensure full continuity with Church teaching.

This campus has been reviewed and approved by the bishop of this diocese.

TEAM MEMBERS

All satellite campus leaders and instructors are graduates of the Encounter School of Ministry and strive to live out the ESM Core Values.

Kevin Monette

Director
Bio

Kevin is a brother and a friend, who draws people into a deeper faith with his contagious enthusiasm and child-like anticipation. He has a tremendous passion for risk-taking growth and newness, convicted that—wherever we’ve been in our faith journey—“we are transformed by the renewing of our minds” (Rm 12:2), and we are being transformed “from glory to glory” (2 Cor 3:18).
In college, Kevin underwent personal formation through the St. John Society (SSJ) in the PNW, developing a heart for evangelism and the power of practical, biblical truths. After which, he spent 12 years leading and training others through the Alpha Course—facilitating encounters, healings, and developing leaders. Over 2020-2022, Kevin attended the Encounter School of Ministry Seattle Campus, where he discovered the “more” that God had made available through him and there discerned a call to expand and open the Portland Campus.
Kevin shares an active family life with his three children – Micah (8), Theodore (6), and Emilie (5), seeing Holy Spirit’s power uniquely alive through each of them—and his wife Rose, who has consistently shared a joint pursuit of ministering in healing and the power of prophetic encouragement.
Kevin has a heart for pursuing the lost, bringing people together, and exploring what “moves” a person. He’s a dynamic teacher and evangelist who will rarely miss an opportunity to impart the joy and freedom he’s received from the Father’s heart. It’s Kevin’s desire that—through this school—you might “know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph 3:19) and continually press in for more!

Rose Monette

Bio

Rose is native to Portland and has a zeal for seeing transformation and revival come to the PNW. Along with a devotion to Kevin and their three beautiful children, Rose is deeply passionate for sharing the Father’s heart, Christian unity, and healing the whole person. Rose came from a traditional Roman Catholic background but has also had powerful experiences in the Maronite tradition and non-denominational communities. Over the last decade, she’s accompanied Kevin in running Alpha courses and assisted in local women’s ministry and retreats. Through her own profound personal healing journey, Rose has a particular heart for inner healing and freedom, releasing God’s mercy, and activating others into their heavenly destiny through the “more” of the Holy Spirit!

Dcn. Scott Aikin

Bio

Deacon Scott Aikin has been a Permanent Deacon since 2007, married for 33 years to his wife Brenda, and has four young adult children. His family has lived in Vancouver, Washington since 1999. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology in 1992 and his Master’s degree in Natural Resources/Water Quality in 2000 from Humboldt State University in California. He has used that education in his full time career as the National Native American Programs Coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service working remotely in the Director’s Office in DC. He is an enrolled tribal member of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi Nation of Northeast Kansas and has more than a quarter century of experience helping the Federal Government carry out its trust responsibilities toward Tribes throughout the United States.

Janice Adkins

Bio

Janice was born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest, and now calls Castle Rock, WA home with her husband Justin and their 6 children. Despite experiencing a typical “cradle Catholic” upbringing, it wasn’t until she became an adult that she had a piercing experience with the Holy Spirit. That encounter sparked a desire to seek a deeper understanding, healing, and intimacy with our Triune God. Through that intimacy she has experienced an abundant outpouring of love and mercy, and passionately desires to journey alongside others, assisting them to experience it for themselves.

Lisa Walker

Bio

Lisa is a wife (to Jerry), mother of three, and Nana of 10+ grandchildren with number 11 on the way. She fell in love with the healing ministry in 2013 and has never looked back! She is a Graduate of the Encounter Ministries school. She has studied Unbound, Christian Healing Ministries and Healing of Families.
Lisa has been in the Hospitality business for over three decades. She and her husband own the Mavericks League at Volcanoes Stadium, a small independent baseball league in Keizer Oregon. Providing family entertainment in a wholesome environment is a passion and labor of love.
Lisa also has a small ministry which she started in 2005. WalkingWord promotes her Catholic faith and efficacious use of the Catholic gift of sacramentals.
Ultimately, the healing ministry has tugged at her heart to share the beauty of the love of God. Her favorite scripture of support, Mk1 4-11. “The heavens were torn open, the spirit of God descended upon Him like a dove”. God referred to His Son as His beloved and Lisa believes we too have been renamed Beloved at our Baptism. This is the profound grace intimacy she hopes all will discover in their faith journey.
