SEAN & NICOLE TOBIN
CAMPUS DIRECTORS
Sean and Nicole are a dynamic couple whose passion is to see the Church on fire with believers fully alive. Originally from Canada, Sean and Nicole moved to Los Angeles County in 2014. They are a young family with two children: Noah (5) and Ava (3), two little prophets! Sean is a Clinical Psychologist and co-founder of the Divine Mercy Clinic, while Nicole is the Director of the Newman Center Pasadena. They are Franciscan University of Steubenville alumni – Nicole with an MA in Theology and Christian Ministry and Sean with a BA in Philosophy/Theology. Nicole began doctoral studies in Christian Ethics at the University of Toronto when she met Sean, and also spent time discerning with the Trappists. Sean spent two years in religious life with the Intercessors of the Lamb, and after, studied at Divine Mercy University as well as Azusa Pacific University, where he earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Nicole comes from a charismatic-Catholic background where her parents modeled an integrated life of family and ministry. Sean is a convert from atheism and has a unique zeal for worship and for healing the whole person. Their hearts are burning for Christian unity and for a culture of Pentecost – where sons and daughters are empowered to bear witness to the Living Christ, in the abundance of the Catholic tradition.

FR. JORGE GARCIA
(Chaplain)
Fr. Jorge is a priest of the diocese of San Bernardino, and rector of the minor seminary. He is a second year Encounter Student, and is enthusiastic about how the program has transformed and renewed his priesthood. He has a childlike faith and humble presence, and is passionate about healing ministry and equipping believers with the tools to evangelize and reach the lost. With a special devotion to St. Joseph, he longs to connect people with the heart of the Father.

TARA WILLIAMS
(Core Team)
Originally from Ohio, Tara moved to Los Angeles in 2005. Tara grew up Catholic but fell away from her faith in her early teens. After getting married and beginning a family, she experienced a reversion through the witness of a Christian midwife. She and her husband, Charles, live in Glendale, where they are raising their five beautiful children to know, love and serve the Lord, and bring about his kingdom here on earth. Identifying as being a “prodigal”, Tara is passionate about helping others encounter the love and mercy of God and fostering a deeper relationship with the Trinity. She feels especially called to hospitality and enjoys hosting small groups and community gatherings, where she actively seeks to bring unity in the Church, across denominations and “camps” within the church. She is exceptionally on fire for the Holy Spirit, and zealous to see the Lord renew His wonders in Los Angeles!
This diocese has reviewed and welcomed the Encounter School of Ministry.
The Encounter School of Ministry is open to Christians of all backgrounds—disciples who believe God calls them to demonstrate His supernatural love in their daily lives. Our curriculum and content is rooted in Catholic Tradition and faithful to Catholic teaching.
Watch the FEARLESS Documentary (Click on Image)
Veteran filmmaker Maura Smith takes us on a compelling journey of discovery into the world of supernatural divine power. We witness how ordinary people in a church, on the streets, and on college campuses ENCOUNTER God’s LOVE and PRESENCE. Following the journey of Encounter Ministries, we see miracles of God through the hands of ordinary people. We see lives touched and changed in an instant because God speaks to them, touches them, and heals them.

First Need
Pope Benedict XVI said that “the ultimate thirst of men cries out for the Holy Spirit”. That cry is growing louder and more desperate. We live in an age that is aching for an encounter with the Living God, through the authentic witness of faith and a “demonstration of the Spirit and power” (1 Cor 2:4). In the words of Pope St. Paul VI, “The Church’s first need is always to live Pentecost… If we really love the Church, the main thing we must do is foster in it an outpouring of the divine Paraclete, the Holy Spirit”. Therefore, at the Encounter Ministries Los Angeles Campus, we are answering to the call of the New Evangelization with boldness and expectancy for God to “stretch out His hand” (Acts 4:30) once again.
